Challenge #53: A to Z

We are all guilty of having 2362569852 packages of thickers, stickers, mini alphas, rub on's, etc. So our challenge this month to you is use up some of those letter stickers/thickers from A-Z on your project, card, altered art, canvas, anything you chose.

I have sooooo many alpha stickers, that I could quite possibly write a short novel just using them all up....

Don't you find though that there are always some letters left over, which you find hard to use? I had quite a few alpha stickers left on a small My Minds Eye sticker sheet, so I used them all on this layout which shows me on my first day of school.

I had fun using my alphas to create this layout documenting the challenge of cutting my three-year-old's hair. Beware when buying alphas at the dollar store - the letters in my journalling only went to "T" and so I had to create my "V" by cutting up a "K". Watch for letters that you can re purpose when your most-used letters start to run out - the other day I took a 9 and used it as a lower case g and I don't think anyone will notice!

For some reasons this didn't come to me until the last minute. I was struggling with the photo. I didn't have one. So I took the camera outside and took some self portraits and played around with the filters for a bit. Used my assorted chipboard and rub-ons and finally completed it. I hope you have a great time with this challenge, I know I did.

Illy:

I have a package of pink alphabet stickers that I find difficult to use on a project, I don't know, maybe the letters are too much "old style" for me... So I decided to use them to create a background on a kraft cardstock and I love the result!

In this card, near the pink butterfly, I glued a feather that I found in my bedroom: my little cat likes to pull the feathers out of the duvet with her teeth so I think she was guilty of that!

Sarah:

I had so much fun creating this layout and using up the last of a sheet of alphas that I was never going to be able to finish otherwise! First I used a scrap piece of yellow embossed Doodlebug cardstock, then I started to randomly choose letters from the letter sheet and place them (overlapping style) onto the piece of card. Then when I had enough, I used my Cuttlebug die to punch out a stamp shape. I raised the alpha-squares with 3D foam dots to help them stand out a little against the other stamps.

This layout is all about my top ten songs that remind me of something significant from my life - it's for my BOM.

Tara: 

I feel like I really accomplished something with this layout. I used up quite a bit of old stash and tried a new technique that I've been wanting to do for awhile now.

Before I even decided on my photo or paper or embellishments, I took a piece of white cardstock, a piece of black cardstock and covered them with white and black foam thickers. This font was one of my favorites when it first came out, and although so many letters were used that I couldn't spell out a whole title with them anymore, I couldn't bear to throw them away. Once they were pieced together, I sprayed the whole background with Before Dawn Shimmerz and then Jenni B Blu here and there on the white. If I'd planned a little better, I probably would have only used the letters where they would show, but as it is, most of the letters are hidden. At least I used up 3 partial packages of letters which were just taking up space :)

I was even able to use up some wee bits I'd saved from a kit from a few years ago.

My friend always makes fun of me because I usually design the page and then go find the picture to go with it ...so these challenges are always good for me because I had the idea for the tree first to use up some sticker letters ( I picked about three different types of fonts) and then just started sticking them on there to form a tree and then added the little flowers ...thanks for looking!!!!

Most of my friends live at a great distance, so I've decided that I need to send more mail. I love the idea of bringing back the art of the letter (or card) so I picked a girlfriend, and made this card, just for her. I love thicker letters, don't you?

Brianna:

This was a "think" challenge for me,as i am not one to wish to use my stickers at all anymore, especially in large amounts,so i did an alphabet grid,and stitched between the letter stickers,showcasing the first time my daughter wrote her name!

This is the cover page for Genevieve's wedding album and we love how she combined the black and white letters to create such funky dimension. Don't know about you but this makes us want to see the rest of the album too!

How absolutely adoring is this layout? We love the little touches with the different coloured words and how Carly used the number 3 instead of the letter E. Fab!

Challenge #51: 20/10

Welcome the new decade. Now that we are well underway in a new year we want to celebrate the year 2010. Use up your alpha's to create a title with a minimum of 20 letters and add a further 10 embellishments of any sort to your project. Or instead of the title, include journaling of at least 20 words and 10 embellies of any sort. Be creative and choose your own 20/10 combination (20 different papers, 10 different colors...etc etc)

I am working on a mini book at the moment, which includes concert tickets/passes and pictures of gigs I have been at. While I still remember the fun times I thought it best to get them down on paper :)

For this layout, I used 10 different papers and created 20 punched cardstock circles as my embellishments.

It wasn't even as difficult as I thought to use so many papers. Go on and have a try yourself.

I have tons of scraps of patterned paper on my desk, this is the occasion to finally use them! I used 20 different patterned papers cut in stripes, and 10 text lines for my journaling (including the title).
I altered my photo with warm water, sand paper and oil pastels. For the title I outlined chipboard letters with a fine marker.

I have been wanting to scrap these photos for a long time (2005, yikes!) My husband and I spend a lot of time refurbishing our old apartment, so the title was not hard to come by! My full title is 20 letters/numbers, and I used 10 paper embellishments and 10 pieces of paper to frame my photos.

I thought this challenge would be harder than it was! My title is twenty letters/numbers and because the theme was "10 Things About You," I bulleted each thing with a button or brad, using ten embellishments! I have three kids so I ended up making a similar page for each of them, which you can view, along with a materials list, on my blog.

I've had these photos since last spring and couldn't seem to do anything with them. Yes ... that's a frog eating a mouse. I challenged myself to use exactly 20 letters for my title. And for my 10 embellishments, I've used Prima Pearls & Crystals here and there. I've used Up The Street's February kit and you can see more photos of my layout on my blog.

I am addicted to flowers but with two boys I do not get to use them as much as I would like too ...so I decided to use them as part of my background and then I saw in Scrapbook Trends this cool page that this gal did with stacking their photos ...sometimes I wish there were 10 of me to get things done around this house ...lol

Girls, do I have ribbons. This challenge was just begging to use snippets of the stash I have. So with this challenge I used 20 of them and in a row. I wanted to keep all of the color onto one side and I still had to put 10 somethings on it before I finished, without it looking too ridiculous. BUTTONS, glorious little plastic buttons. I had to refrain from using more than 10 though and restraint is a word I don't like to use much,

but what scrapper does. LOL

I was so excited for this challenge,i have seen the use of jumbled letters in a title before and had to put my spin on it!i am a BIG fan of handstitching on my layouts,so i stitched 20 letters for my title,and for my star border i used,yep you guessed it,10 of them!Yay for 2010!

I doodled 20 lines in black pen, created two lines of bling – one has 20 dots the other has 10, there are 20 words in my journaling, I sewed on 10 buttons and added 10 pearls to the ribbon along the bottom. I also inked the edges of the pp along the bottom, the arrows are stamped and the little bird is chipboard. There are more close-ups on my my blog.

Challenge #44: Unwanted letters

Ok, so this didn't exactly show up as scheduled for the 10th...the auto-post didn't work. it was scheduled, but it just didn't publish. but it's here now and i really hope you'll still play along!

Show us how creative you can get and use up those alpha's like ZZZZZ and QQQQQ which always seem to be leftover. Use them on layouts, wall-art...anything! Don't hoard them anymore...use them!!! Here's what we came up with:

okay, these are my least favorite, imposter thickers. but i must say, this is one of my fave layouts i've done in a long time. i love tracing the letters and then peeling them up. good way to conserve the letters you actually use a lot of (like the Sassafras ones also used on here, traced and removed). and then the rest of the letters on there--well, this is a good way to use them up too!

O.K. Total No Brainer! What else on earth am I going to do with all those "zs"!!!

Well, believe it or not but I rarely have left over letter stickers...honest! I use my "Z's"as an alternative to the letter "N" (meaning I flip them 90 degrees to the left or right). The other letter generally ignored is the Q - but again, I just cut the little swirl off and turn it into an "O".
So, this challenge actually DID turn into a real challenge for me :)
What always seems to be totally ignored on my sticker sheets are actually the numbers and here in particular the number "8". Don't ask - I have NO idea....
So, I took two "8's" and turned them into an embellishment on this card - not too shabby of an idea, don't you think?

Challenge #18: Letter Sticker Mix Up

I admit it, I have an addiction to letter stickers.
It is probably the thing I own the most of.
Wait, my paper might win that one....well, it's a close second.
I just love to collect them.
In all colors and fonts.
And then I run out of S and E and M, quite quickly in fact.
And then I don't wanna use that style anymore or I feel like I can't.

So, the challenge this week is to use 3 or more different letter stickers in your title or on your card. Mix and Match! Play with the different fonts and colors, try to make it work!

And don't forget to add your great creation to the slide or post a link in the comments section, we want to see those letters hard at work!

Challenge #2: Sticker Sneeze

This week is all about the stickers. You know the ones you had to have and they are still hanging around. Get 'em out, stick 'em down..

There is some rules though to this challenge to spice it up a little.
